Real Estate Fraud

South Florida Mortgage and Real Estate Fraud Attorney

Acts of real estate and mortgage fraud are used to defraud banks, lending institutions, developers and other entities in real estate transactions. State and federal governments have increased their efforts at prosecuting alleged real estate fraud, which has led to overzealous investigators mistaking simple errors for evidence of fraud and bringing criminal charges against honest individuals. A person who is suspected of or charged with real estate fraud should contact an experienced criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible.

At the Miami law firm of Jose M. Quinon, I provide criminal defense to clients in Florida, Puerto Rico and throughout the United States. For more than 34 years, I have represented clients accused of a wide range of state, federal and international criminal offenses, including many high profile clients and cases in the state of Florida. Together with an experienced team of staff and experts, I remain dedicated to effectively representing every new client and protecting his rights against false criminal allegations.

I am fluent in Spanish and often work with Spanish-speaking clients from Florida, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Columbia, Venezuela, Panama and throughout Central and South America. If you are being investigated for mortgage fraud or have been charged with real estate fraud, contact my firm and speak with an attorney about your criminal charges.

Fraud Charges in Real Estate

When fraud occurs in real estate transactions, it can happen for a variety of reasons. There are several types of real estate fraud that are seen more often, which include:

  • Straw buyers that are used to secure loans and purchase real estate for actual buyers, who ordinarily would not be able to qualify
  • Inflated appraisals may be given for pieces of real estate, allowing purchasers to qualify for larger loans
  • The sale price may be inflated by buyers and/or sellers to obtain more money from lenders than they would ordinarily receive
  • Applications may be approved without required documentation
  • Loan and purchase documents may be falsified in order for buyers to obtain loans

At my firm, I have represented real estate and mortgage brokers, banks and lenders, buyers and sellers, developers and title companies who have been accused of these and other types of real estate fraud.
